Some, in the larger villages, have a full complement of services. Some have one service per month. Some have two per year. Some are Festival churches, with services at Christmas, Easter and other festivals. Some are closed, sold and converted to houses. When is a church not a church?<br>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\">We are in the <strong>DIOCESE of HEREFORD<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\">A Diocese is more or less the same as a county, ours includes part of Shropshire and a bit of Wales.<br><strong>A Diocese is divided into DEANERIES<\/strong>, there are thirteen Deaneries in Hereford Diocese.<br>Our Deanery is BROMYARD.<br><strong>Deaneries are divided into BENEFICES<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0 Each Benefice has a PRIEST<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"733\" height=\"668\" src=\"https:\/\/stpetersbromyard.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/flowchart.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-116\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stpetersbromyard.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/flowchart.png 733w, https:\/\/stpetersbromyard.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/flowchart-300x273.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 733px) 100vw, 733px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\">Brockhampton, in Bromyard Benefice, does not really count as it is extra-parochial \u2013 it does not belong to any church parish. But Bromyard provides one service each month<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\">This is a time of rapid changes in church patterns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\">Our Diocese is sparsely populated.\u00a0A congregation of six does not produce enough income to support a clergyperson, and to maintain the building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Holes in roofs are expensive!<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CHURCHES are not easy to count!
